The world official opening ceremony of the longest bridge took place on October 23, 2018, in China. From that day forth, 55 kilometers of both surface and underwater transit facilities connect mainland China, Hong Kong, and the Macau Peninsula. Cities with the special administrative districts status are located on the opposite shores of the innovation economic zone called “Big Bay”. This region is a Chinese analog of the world-famous innovations cluster – “Silicon Valley” in the southwestern part of the United States.
It was decided to summarize 8 years of both construction and testing in Zhuhai City. Xi Jinping, Vice Premier Han Zheng, Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission Li Lifeng, authorized city representatives connected by a bridge, and about 700 guests attended the official large-scale facility opening.
